| Otterupgaarden’s working philosophy is mostly based on dialectic pedagogy, though there is also an element of Howard Gardner’s theories ( the many intelligences)
We also draw our inspiration from philosophers such as Gruntvig, Hegel, Leontjef, Wigotsky Dialectic is one of the oldest principles written down by Plato in 400 b.c. Behind this principle is the idea that no one individual has the patent to the truth, but through reflection and discussion there comes a practical agreement which is workable for all. (the fundamentals of a Democratic approach) Dialectic means according to the Danish dictionary, (translated) Quote: "the art or method of going to the roots of a problem by drawing forward and out the subjects various angles, discussion or the art of discussion, the ability to bring forth a solid condition of reality or to argue for, with a sharp and clear logic". These working practises and principles are broadly incorporated in Otterupgaarden’s daily life. They are keenly encouraged by both clients and staff and they enrich our institute’s goals.
